About The Project
A recent project of ours was for a client located in Dunstable. It was a lovely semi-detached house, but after seeing another house down the road expand their home through a loft conversion, they decided to take a similar move. After discussing the best conversion route to go down, our team were tasked to complete a dormer loft conversion, with an added extra of a balcony.

What We Did:
After being already provided with the plans to create a new master bedroom and ensuite, we started the project, beginning with the stairs. The stairs were installed over the top of the first-floor stairs for it flow better. It also created a smart and stronger design to match the rest of the house.
In addition, we completed the installation of a new dividing wall. This was because the stairs of the property lead down to an open lounge, which would not have complied with fire regulations. Therefore, installing this wall ensured fire regulations were compliant, due to the wall giving a protected route from the loft.
To create the master bedroom, we needed to install 1 x SK06 Velux roof window to the front which extended the room, creating a larger space. We also installed 1200mm wide french doors, which provided an exit onto the balcony and made the overall look of the extension look smart.
For the bathroom, we installed a 1200mm wide shower, with matching sinks and toilet. To make the room feel more spacious and light, we added a dormer window which created ventilation.
Overall, this loft was a slightly different project to what we are used to doing due to it being the first usable balcony area installed by DJ Moore Lofts. The look of this loft conversion is excellent, and the addition of being able to use the outside space is a huge bonus. We installed a smart black metal railing around the perimeter of the balcony, to make it safe to use, which was fully compliant with the building control regulations.
The clients were delighted with the results and didn’t know why they have never considered a loft extension before!
