About The Project

Our lovely clients contacted us to make the most out of the loft space in their beautiful Victorian mid-terrace house in Biggleswade. The existing loft was a simple, dark, unused cut roof style, measuring approximately 2.8m high by 5m wide. Victorian mid-terrace homes like this are perfect candidates for loft conversions, as a rear dormer often allows stairs to flow naturally from the landing, and removing an existing cupboard is usually all that’s needed.

The clients wanted a practical and stylish solution, including a new master bedroom with an ensuite. They also had bespoke wardrobes fitted, ensuring every inch of storage had its place and giving the finished space a sleek, organised feel.

What We Did

Our team, led by Nathan and Jamie, longstanding experts in loft conversions, started by installing new timber floors using 7b2 boards. We added a structural wall to the front and installed a ridge steel beam to support the new rear dormer. The dormer itself was carefully hand-built from 5b2 timbers to match the exact dimensions on the plans, with framing completed for the dormer windows to be installed at a later stage.

The rear dormer and surrounding areas were fully slated by our roofing team, while the front roof, which was in poor condition, was also replaced, providing a durable, worry-free solution for years to come.

Inside, the new room is a bright, stunning space. With walls and ceiling painted the same colour, it feels open and welcoming. The ensuite bathroom was fitted with Victorian-style features and bold green gloss tiles, giving it a unique, modern twist that the clients absolutely loved.

This project is a fantastic example of what our loft conversions in Biggleswade can achieve. Even in Victorian homes where space is at a premium, a well-planned dormer conversion can transform an underused loft into a beautiful, functional living area, without compromising existing space, as long as there’s at least 2.4m head height.
TESTIMONIALS

What Our Client Said

Buisness name
We chose DJ Moore Lofts for our loft conversion after meeting with Dan. We’d requested quotes from a range of different companies, but we were really impressed with his detailed quote, professionalism, knowledge and advice (along with his huge portfolio of projects).

We started our loft conversion in January 2024, and although it was freezing cold, it definitely didn’t dampen Nathan and Jamie’s spirits. They were amazing, always arrived on time and cracked on, rain or shine, all with very little disruption to our young family.

There were lots of decisions that needed to be made throughout the project, but they were always made quickly and efficiently with continuous communication between the team and us. Everyone who worked on our project was exceptionally skilled and really couldn’t do enough for us.

After just three months, we now have a stunning primary bedroom and ensuite, which has completely transformed our home. We genuinely couldn’t thank everyone at DJ Moore Lofts enough for making what we thought would be a stressful few months so pleasant. They really are the best of the best.
