About The Project
Here we have an end-terrace Victorian home in the centre of Bedford, which we were asked to convert for a family looking to add extra space to their home.
The old loft was mostly empty and had a few items from the client storing old possessions. However, it was clear that it would be a great area to work with; it had a fantastic head height and pitch that we could use to make an excellent new space within their home.

What We Did:
The client was looking for a space that they could primarily use as an office. However, they also wanted the space to double up as a spare room for guests, accompanied by an ensuite.
So we set about making the dark and dirty loft into something magic. Nathen and Jamie worked hard to create the new structure and the results where a large flat roof dormer to the rear with three MK06 Velux roof windows to the front. This was completed in under two weeks.
The rear dormer was finished in plain tiles that matched the roof colour, which the client requested as they were looking to build in the dormer with the existing area. We also installed 1.4m wide French doors with a 12mm fixed glass balcony for a great view over Bedford, along with a landing UPVC window and bathroom window.
Access to the loft is by our newly made fitted stairs thanks to Shaw Stairs in Tamworth. They turned around this perfectly matching set of stairs within a week which fitted lovely over the existing stairs on the 1st floor, looking original and fitting well with the area.
Inside the loft was now very bright with natural light and gave a fantastic space for the client to create the room there were looking for.
As you can see from the completed photos, it’s an amazing office and has so much space to double-up as an excellent home office, along with a bedroom thanks to the sofa bed.
