loft conversion roof

About The Project

Here is a beautiful hip to gable conversion completed to a very high spec for a family in St Albans.
From our first meeting to the beginning of the build, the client had a clear and detailed plan and speciation for us to work to. This included some very nice items in the spec.

After the our first meeting the client was concerned about the head height, after other companies had suggested there may be a lower head height that what was needed/requested. After we had looked and measured I was able to guarantee that we would get the minimum height asked for but aim for more.
Once we had started the process of building the dormer, and installing the steels, it was clear we could pinch a few more inches and give the client more space than they had thought possible.

The loft structural work had a very complicated steel layout as the house had been extended a few times and with hardly any load bearing walls available to use . We worked alongside the clients engineer to tweak the design to give maximum space and minimal disruption to the house and clients.

The loft had a large master bedroom with french doors and a stunning glass Juliet balcony to give maximum light and views of the garden. Along with a top hung Velux on the font slope to give more light and air flow in the room. We were also asked to create a niche in a wall opposite the bed ready for a tv to be installed at a later date.

The ensuite/bathroom was fully tiled in large 800 x800mm tiles that gave a great look and style. Along with wall hung toilet and sink the room felt spacious. The client was able to have a larger shower than planned with a soap box. We also fitted PIR LED lighting to the underside of the basin unit and soap box for a great effect at night time.

The dormer was finished in plain tiles to match the existing roof line and to try and make the dormer blend in. Along with this we also replaced the existing fascia and gutters on the whole house to match the new black fascia requested on the dormer. These made a massive difference to the home as it gave it a fresh look once the scaffolding was taken down and showing the new roof line and fresh fascias.

The client was over joyed with the result and has already recommended us to other local friends and neighbors along with giving us a glowing review!

One beautiful loft space!
