About The Project:
When our client approached us with a plan to add four new rooms to their property through a Velux conversion, we knew this would be a mammoth project. However, after our initial site survey, the true extent of the work became clear. This dark and restricted space had bucketloads of potential, and over the next eight weeks, two of our teams used their wealth of experience providing loft conversions in Bedford, to bring it to life.

What We Did:
Prior to conversion, this loft was full of trusses and timber, making it extremely difficult to navigate and gauge the available space. So, our team’s first step was to remove these frames and replace them with valley support beams that opened up the space while maintaining the loft’s structural integrity.
Once cleared, we began establishing the layout for our client’s design, starting with the stairs and landing. Due to the location of the existing staircase, we couldn’t extend it into the new loft space. Instead, we created a new stairwell, wrapping around into an expansive landing space. We installed an MK06 Velux window over the landing to allow plenty of natural light and implemented an oak finish to match the existing interior.
The loft’s biggest room is being used as a playroom for the kids. It’s bright, open and spacious, with three PK08 Velux windows. The kids love it and regularly invite their friends around to enjoy the space, too!
As a keen artist, our client wanted a dedicated studio away from the rest of the home. Our team installed two combo Velux windows to flood the room with natural light and provide gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. We also included a storage room to maximise the practicality of the studio space.
The centre-piece of this conversion is undoubtedly the adult snug. It was a complex space to create, but the result was more than worth it. Upon entry, you’re greeted by an apex of glass and balcony doors, providing stunning views from the rear of the property. With a selection of cosy furnishings internally, this room was crafted with relaxation in mind.
We rounded off the conversion by installing a basic shower bathroom designed to increase the loft’s functionality and further boost the property’s value.
