About The Project:
This project in Houghton Regis involved transforming an unused russed loft into two separate rooms, along with a small bathroom.
The clients were keen to create a dedicated cinema room alongside a spare bedroom for guests, while also incorporating a compact bathroom to make the new space more practical. Although the layout was tight, careful planning allowed us to create a design that worked perfectly for their needs.
What We Did:
As the property had a trussed roof structure, significant structural work was required to open up the loft and create usable space. Once the structure was adapted and reinforced, we installed six Velux roof windows to maximise natural light and ventilation throughout the loft.
The new staircase was installed directly above the existing stairs, allowing access to the loft while ensuring no valuable floor space was lost below.
Inside the loft, we created two separate rooms – one designed as a cinema room and the other as a comfortable spare bedroom – along with a compact bathroom that includes all the essential fixtures.
To help tie the new space into the rest of the home, we installed new oak internal doors throughout the house and upgraded the existing staircase handrail, so everything matched beautifully.
